Brief Biography
Dr. Colette (Lettie) Brooks is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Substance Abuse Treatment Practitioner in the state of Virginia and a Clinical Mental Health Counseling in Utah. She holds certifications as a National Certified Counselor, Approved Clinical Supervisor, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and Certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapist. Dr. Brooks received her master's degree in Education and Human Development from George Washington University, and a master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Cumberlands, CACREP accredited program. Dr. Brooks graduated with her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of the Cumberlands. Her dissertation explored the experiences of students of color with culturally responsive teaching and supervision within CACREP-accredited programs.
Dr. Brooks has worked in both community mental health and private practice. She owned and operated a large multi-location practice for over five years before selling it in 2021. She has consulted with government agencies on mental health issues impacting the workforce. Her current private practice is dedicated to supporting emerging counselors through their clinical experiences and the licensure process. She enjoys her work developing students and growing the counseling field.
